The Sony WH1000XM5 can play music wirelessly via Bluetooth or wired via the cable that comes with. They are compatible with aptX codecs, aptX HD codecs and aptX adaptive codecs that provide high-quality audio via Bluetooth.

The WH-1000XM5 has a similar headband and ear cups to the XM4 but is more lightweight and comfortable. They are comfortable to wear and are suitable for extended periods. They are also ideal for longer flights and commutes. They feature excellent noise canceling performance that blocks out most background noise without compromising on clarity and detail. The Sony WH1000XM5 headphones offer a good amount of bass, especially for closed-back headphones. They also provide a great soundstage and a clear separation between vocals and instruments.

The low latency is a big positive. The lag is so minimal that it's almost imperceptible, and they can also be used to play casual games. They're not ideal for gaming in a competitive manner however they're perfect for those who want to utilize them for entertainment or to make hands-free calls.

Sony is adamant about incorporating smart features into its products and the WH-1000XM5 are no exception. The active noise cancellation is among the most effective I've ever tried, and they come with a suite of smart functions to enhance the overall listening experience. Sony's DSEE Extreme Engine upscales compressed audio to near-hi-res quality. They're also compatible with Sony's own LDAC technology, which streams audio with higher bitrates over ear wireless headphones for gym Bluetooth (although not as hi-res as a dedicated headphone DAC).

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Bowers & Wilkins flagship headphones that are the PX7 S2, have consistently appeared on top wireless headset lists since the launch of the first generation PX7 in the year 2015. This puts them in the same category as Sony WH1000XM5 or bose soundlink around ear wireless headphones ii's QuietComfort. The PX7 S2 is the latest version that takes the original headphones to the next level with a boost in ANC performance and a refreshed look.

The bio-cellulose drivers that measure 40mm inside the earcups are placed in a way that they directly hit your eardrums. This gives you an audio experience that is more intimate unlike other closed-back headphones. The PX7 S2 lives up to the bold claim. Vocals are clear and clear, and bass is a deep and rumbly when you need it to be.

The PX7 S2 is also very excellent at making calls. It has a crisp and clear sound that does not overpower your voice. They also offer a quick charge that can get you back fully charged in only two hours. Furthermore, they're compatible with hi-res audio thanks to an aptX adaptive Bluetooth codec that enables the playback of 24-bit music.

The noise-canceling technology as well as improved audio performance are among the most important upgrades for most listeners. They're not perfect, but they are. The clamp force on our test models was a bit tighter than we'd prefer and there aren't as many additional features in the app as other options, but these aren't major complaints. The PX7 S2s are a superb wireless headphone that rivals the top of their class, and it's hard to imagine them being beaten by any other headphone.

For audiophiles who appreciate high fidelity and are looking for an exceptional wireless noise-canceling headset The Focal Bathys are tough to beat. They're the French audio company's first ANC headphones to use Bluetooth and best over ear headphones Wireless Under 100 they offer incredible audio quality in both Bluetooth mode and when connected to an device via USB for true hi-fi listening with up to 24 bits/192kHz (the headphones are also capable of blocking external audio with its closed ear cups).

The Bathys are stunning with their glossy finish and swooping curvatures reminiscent Focal's closed-back Celestee and open-back Elear headphones. They also feature premium materials like magnesium and aluminum to create a robust build that feels solid, comfortable and worth the cost.

In Bluetooth mode in Bluetooth mode, the Bathys deliver a crisp and vibrant sound that easily beats studio beats wireless headphones similar priced consumer ANC alternatives like the Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode lets them be pushed further and makes them an excellent option for those who love hifi.

The Focal and Naim app allows users to alter the headphone's playback controls as well as Bluetooth pairing preferences. The app lets users choose between soft and silent intensities for ANC. They can also alter the brightness of the LEDs on the earcups of the headphones, as well as adjust the EQ settings. The app is bare-bones, but it offers enough functionality to warrant the cost of downloading.

The Sony WH-CH720N headphones are a good pair of wireless over ear headphones wireless best-ear headphones for the price. They come with a reliable noise-cancelling technology that does an excellent job of blocking out ambient noise, making them perfect for commuters and travellers. Their matte finish and durable construction add a touch of premium quality.

They have a similar look to Sony's 1000X and XB910N headphone models. They sport a slim, plastic headband with the usual hinges for the earcups. They're lightweight and comfortable to wear, however they feel a little too tight for my taste. In the box, they have an USB-C port to charge and a 3.5mm socket, and a decent-length cable. They are multipoint Bluetooth which means that you can connect to two devices simultaneously if you want.

In my tests the CH720N's hybrid technology for noise cancellation did an excellent job at reducing ambient noise. There were only a few blips when walking through Waterloo Station and London Victoria. The sound-silencers weren't able to block every sound in the vicinity, but they did struggle with low-frequency sounds such as the engine rumbling sound of buses and trains.

Streaming music over the CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth, and it displayed a low level of harmonic distortion. I listened to a variety of genres and discovered they were able to handle the intricate interplay between instruments quite well. It did a fantastic job of reducing the bass in rock tracks and keeping the mix focused.

The Sony Headphones Connect App allows you to alter the CH720N's multipoint connectivity and ANC settings according to your preferences. You can also add a variety of audio presets. You can also enable DSEE via the app, which enhances the quality of sound and boosts compression of audio files.

The WH-CH720N is an excellent value for PS130. It isn't equipped with some of Sony's best over Ear headphones Wireless Under 100 features (such as Speak-to-Chat and Fast Attention) but it has a lot of excellent features. 360 Reality Audio, smart controls and DSEE upscaling are all included. The only thing that's missing is LDAC Bluetooth high-res audio support I believe it would have been a great inclusion.
